HUMOUR

It began on a Thursday evening with a single photograph posted to the Green Meadows Phase 2 Official Residents WhatsApp group.

The photograph showed a blue floral umbrella hanging from the handrail on the fourth-floor stairwell of Wing D.

Accompanying caption by flat 402:
“Dear Managing Committee, please note that corridor handrails are for physical support of senior citizens, NOT for private drying of domestic wet articles. Kindly take necessary action against the concerned unit.”

I. The Escalation Curve

Within twelve minutes, the thread had developed the geopolitical complexity of the Treaty of Versailles:

  • Flat 501 (Treasurer): “Request all members to maintain decorum. Point 14(b) of Society Bylaws clearly prohibits obstruction of common egress.”
  • Flat 304: “What about the leaking AC pipe from 602 that drips directly on my car windshield? Why no notice for that??”
  • Flat 602: “Sir, please don’t bring personal grievances into a general discussion on corridor discipline.”
  • Flat 103 (Senior Citizen): “Good morning. Sharing an inspiring thought on national integrity. 🙏”
  • Flat 402: “The umbrella is STILL dripping on the tiles. If anyone slips, MC will be held legally liable under Consumer Protection Act.”

II. The Forensic Resolution

By Friday morning, eighty-seven messages had been exchanged regarding the legal definition of "common egress."

At 8:30 AM, the security supervisor was dispatched to conduct an on-site physical inspection with a clip-board and a ballpoint pen.

The investigation revealed that:
1. The umbrella did not belong to Wing D.
2. It belonged to the Amazon delivery executive who had left it behind while delivering a six-pack of sugar-free muesli to Flat 402.

Flat 402 has since deleted their initial message and posted a forwarded video titled: “10 Simple Ways to Cultivate Inner Peace in Daily Life.”

The umbrella remains on the handrail. It has now become an accepted architectural fixture of the building.
